Summary: The service is way over the top and the traditional atmosphere is very inviting and serene. Rooms are spacious by all standards and the Onsen (being in the middle of Tokyo) is just amazing, elegant and yet traditional.

Summary: Our family of 5 stayed 5 nights and we loved it. The stay was a lovely departure from the usual luxury hotels. Tatami mats everywhere and the staff truly try to embody Omotenashi (Japanese hospitality). All the staff made a real effort to speak with us. The lounges on each floor are equipped with lots of treats. You can tell the staff truly cares about your stay, with Miyo, in particular, spending time with our family to explain things to us, as this was our first visit to Japan. It is a quirky place, so embrace it for that. They even daily hang wind chimes in the trees that adorn the entrance. This hotel is part of Honshino Resorts - a 100+ year old Japanese company, still run by the same family. We'd definitely stay again!

Summary: Great service, but hard to find people sometimes as it feels very quiet and isolated on the floors and in the onsen. Asked for a local sushi recommendation because their sushi restaurant was closed and the place they recommended turned out to be terrible. They were kind enough to make the reservation, though. The room itself was a bit run down considering the expense and the 5 stars: chipped paint, musty bathroom odor. And the in-room amenities were a bit lacking.

Summary: Amazing experience at a high-rise ryokan. As explained to us, a ryokan is traditionally an inn in Japan. At the Hoshinoya, this translates into a large common area with an assortment of tea, coffee and snacks available 24/7. Room was large and comfortable. Bed was comfortable. Service was friendly and reliable. The hot springs on the roof is a unique amenity. In sum, yes, you should stay here.

Summary: Even though it’s in a busy business area, the moment you step inside Hoshinoya Tokyo, you're instantly transported to a tranquil and cozy ryokan. We love how comfortable the rooms are, the inviting lounge, and the onsen with the cold milk afterward. The building is just a 2-3 min walk from Otemachi subway or 10-15 mins stroll to Tokyo Station.

Summary: Everything was excellent. The staff was very friendly and polite, even though there was one request the staff refused to help. Yet, I understand. There was one thing really bothered me, however, was the smell of sewage in the bathroom. It was unbearable. So the last day of the trip it got really strong. Half day of our last day we couldn’t use it.
